How long do I have to wait to see a doctor?

Not long at all. Our service provides doctors on demand; you can click the call button and instantly speak with a provider. Unlike our competitors who advertise a 20 minutes or more call back time, our goal is to provide service almost instantaneously. If the chosen provider is near a computer or his or her mobile device, you’ll be connected in less than 5 minutes time. That’s right; it’s fast.

Do you have family Plans?

MyOnCallDoc is here to service you with the best telehealth technology available. We don’t believe in charging you for additional family members. If you have a family member that you’d like to add to your account, call us at 855-362-3278 and we will add your family member to our network free of charge. Please note that family members must reside at the same address and dependents must be under the age of 18. Each provider consultation is still billed at normal provider distinct session rates.

What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine is the delivery of interactive healthcare using modern telecommunications technology. It allows patients to see a doctor using audio and/or video communication delivered through onsite video conferencing equipment, a personal computer or a mobile device with internet capabilities.

Through this audio and/or video session, patient information and data can be transferred between the patient and the doctor in a secure manor. With telemedicine, geography is no longer a barrier to treatment. It doesn’t matter if you are in Tampa, FL or in a jungle rain forest. As long as you have an internet connection, you can have access to board-certified doctors from anywhere.

Is Telemedicine safe?

Yes. Guided by technical standards and clinical practice guidelines, and backed by decades of research and demonstrations, telemedicine is a safe and cost-effective way to extend the delivery of healthcare. ATA has produced a series of standards, guidelines and best practices for healthcare providers to ensure that they are using telemedicine responsibly. Telemedicine is the delivery of health-related services and information via telecommunications technologies, including telephones and personal computers – other references include telemedicine, teletherapy, telepsychiatry and virtual consultations. Among the most significant benefits are convenient access to healthcare professionals without scheduling appointments, traveling, or wasting time in crowded waiting rooms, as well as lower costs for quality care, and more.

Will I be reimbursed for each call through my insurance?

Currently, MyOnCallDoc is not set up to process billing for insurance; this feature is planned for future development. Twenty states and the District of Columbia require that private insurers cover telehealth the same as they cover in-person services. Many other insurers cover at least some telehealth service — and many more have expressed interest in expanding their telehealth coverage. To find out if your insurance company covers telehealth services, please contact your benefits manager. If you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or a Health Spending Account (HSA) you may be able to use the money in these accounts to pay for your membership and for the doctor visits, you should check with your provider of these accounts to ensure that your plan covers the expense.

Does insurance cover the membership costs for MyOnCallDoc?

Currently, not all states have legislation that allows for the billing of telemedicine sessions through insurance. Many states are actively working on changes to their laws to support telemedicine. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) also has language that supports telemedicine.

As the ASA continues to roll out to each state support for telemedicine will continue to grow. If you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or a Health Spending Account (HSA) you may be able to use the money in these accounts to pay for your membership and for the doctor visits. You should check with your provider of these accounts to ensure that your plan covers the expense.

Can MyOnCallDoc write prescriptions?

Our doctors can write prescriptions in the state they are licensed to prescribe medication. No controlled substances may be prescribed. Other prescriptions may be available where clinically appropriate and permitted by law. Upon the completion of your virtual visit the prescribing doctor will call in your script to the pharmacy listed in your account profile. If you are on travel and away from your home state, the prescribing physician will call in your script to a local pharmacy of your choice in the state you are physically located.
